Children and Civic Park 25.2.2011

Take a child to a park and s/he’ll have a good time with or without something that screams ‘Play Area’ but it’s always seemed a shame to me that there’s no beautiful play equipment in our CBD park. This means the poor dracaenas cop it from kids climbing on them – mine are as guilty as everyone else’s – because there’s nothing else to use. (more…)

Heat wave rave 3.2.2011

I’ve been trying to think of the most beautiful places in town (as well as the most unpleasant). Send me a comment telling me your favourites – I imagine Laman Street, the coastline from Nobbys to infinity in both directions, King Edward Park, Blackbutt Reserve, Jesmond Park, anywhere that has a large Hill’s or Moreton Bay fig, the bike tracks at Lake Macquarie and Throsby Creek - and so on and so on.  (more…)

A busy week 4.9.2010

Spring came for two days then left again. It’s rainy and cold again.The air has been smelling beautiful in the last week or so and my rhondoletia is in flower, the pittosporum outside my office is blooming and there’s enough jasmine around to get poor hayfever sufferers down. (more…)
