Brush Box: obviously 'shaped' years ago but then left alone.
Newcastle city councillors will receive a briefing at 5:30pm, Tuesday 3rd April, on the Laman Street development. See you at Town Hall in the Council chamber on the second floor.
As a friend of mine said, the new design will need to be a pretty special plan because what Council removed by destroying the avenue of fig trees was divine. (more…)

The General Manager spent thousands of ratepayer dollars today to put a full-page ad on page 24 of the Herald today to tell the community that everything’s OK – Council is ‘very comfortable’ with how stupid it looks its four – oh, no: not four – reports on Laman Street, and to tell residents ‘Don’t Worry, Be Happy: protest respectfully; we vandals are Just Doing Our Job’. The spin goes on about these poor trees: there was a fantastic ad in the Herald a couple of weeks ago from a group of architects, asking for an independent risk assessment of the Laman Street trees. (more…)

Tents have been in Civic Park for over a week and I expect will stay there until the next Council discussion about Laman Street on Sept 13th. Go down and visit, have a chat, take a photo, sign the petition, get the latest dirt news on what’s happening – make a memory you can tell your children about how you helped save those magnificent trees. (more…)
