FIG FRIDAY SHOWDOWN 7.10.2011
October 7, 2011Scenes in Newcastle today were affronting and bizarre, with mainstream Newcastle being manhandled by police who behaved very aggressively to the gathered crowd, pushing them out of the way to allow treeworkers in, and captured on film assaulting at least one resident. This was all to carry out Newcastle Council’s vandalism in Laman Street.
This video footage shows how campaigners behaved before police used heavy-handed tactics to push them out of the way and risk their safety to let vehicles in, which they then allowed to travel too fast.
I believe 6 people were injured, one of whom was a young girl who was thought intially to be unconscious.
A doctor who came to her aid was appalled by the lack of cooperation by police at the time the injuries occurred. Home
